A little over a month ago I was trying to get all my ducks in a row before I went on vacation. I could remember that I had some outstanding questions I needed to address or project details to fix, but I couldn’t seem to find the emails I needed. I tried all of the obvious tactics. I searched on email addresses, potential subject lines, filtering by date… no such luck. You may have this same problem. You may feel like you’re knee deep in emails and there is no luck finding the ones you need. No worries, keep reading.
If you get a swarm of emails you need to have a new way to store your old messages. A message no longer needs to be in your inbox or in your trash can… archive it! By archiving your emails you never have to worry about them not being searchable, but you can clean up your inbox. Right now there are 11 emails sitting in my inbox. 2 of them I haven’t even opened yet. Those 11 emails are still open issues, questions, or simply something I need to address. Some are small tasks or questions that I just haven't got to yet. Some are bigger projects with feedback that I don’t want to forget about. My email has now turned into a task list! No more wondering if someone got skipped or forgotten. I can sleep every night know exactly who I need to circle back to and who I have contacted.
Social media is my life and if you’re looking to be successful in the marketing world it will be yours too. You can not let it overwhelm your business hours, though. If you’re a gmail user you need to go into your settings and click inbox.
You will see in the categories section you can check social to filter out your emails/notifications from your social networks. Find a time every day to focus solely on this tab. Thank those who have followed you. Interact with comments and likes — then archive them.
