Your email communication skills are really hidden treasures for every aspect of work life.

Journey back in time with me. Imagine you’re sitting on your couch and the T.V. turns on. Do you know what show is being aired for the first time? Legend of the Hidden Temple!! I always was torn between the purple parrots and the green monkeys.

For those who were not as fortunate to watch this epic game-show. Legend of the Hidden Temple was a game-show centered around a temple. The temple was then filled with hidden secrets and treasures that teams then were on a mission to hunt and locate. They encountered many obstacles, some overcame those obstacles and some did not.

VIDEO

Just like the body of your email, remember to keep your video short, sweet, and to the point. If you begin to ramble in your video you will lose your audience (employees, prospects, administration, management, etc.).

COLLABORATION

When learning effective email communication skills you may have read about including or excluding people in the CC and BCC fields of your email. A hidden treasure when collaborating is Google Drive. When you create a Doc, Sheet, or Slide you can invite people to comment, edit, or make suggestions on your digital file. This eliminates the need for emailing new versions and saving multiple copies of a working file.

TITLING

When adding/giving a title to any digital file — remember your email communication skills for subject lines. Your title for a Ving, Google Doc, or Ving component even should be straightforward. You want your reader to be able to:

  1. Easily locate your file when searching.
  2. Know exactly what they are opening.
  3. It’s importance/urgency.

More often than not, your digital file will have a description option — this is the best place to include a required date or further instructions.
