6 Ingenious Ways You Can Use Safety Program Analytics

Decorative

Your safety program should be more than just delivering content and training employees out of the requirement. You should have a program that encourages a safety culture.

Often that is where people start. They have the best of intentions but they get overwhelmed, their day gets busy, and then all the sudden 3 months have gone by and they have not looked at any analytics. Today I am not going to talk to you about Ving analytics but really safety program analytics in general. All of these data points you can find in Ving but you might find them in another tool too.

6 Ways To Use Your Safety Program Analytics

Analytics For You & Your Employees

  1. Delivery - You should analyze your delivery rate. This can seem super basic but it is something a lot of people do not do and then they get discouraged that their views or completes are lower. You might be surprised how many people you might have a bad email or phone number for. So all you need to do is get a list of the employees that your training was not delivered to and reach out to them to confirm their email/phone number.

  2. Views/Opens - Now that you have your delivery under control you can look at your views. You can use these safety program analytics hand in hand. When you see low views and opens you want to make sure you are sharing content that is compelling them to open as well giving them the reason they will want to open it. This could be as simple and straightforward as you will be fired if you have not done your safety training. Maybe they can’t work their shift until safety training is complete. Maybe the reasoning is a little more fun. If you get your training done you will be invited to a pizza party at the end of the month. Whatever gets the job done and encourages a happy culture is what you want to do. What works for one person might not work for another.

  3. Quiz/Test Scores - Ironically OSHA doesn’t really care how well people are doing on their training they just care that it is getting done. We think that it is crucial for you to care. If you don’t put the effort to review and show your employees that you care about how well they do then they will not put their best foot forward when completing their safety training.

  4. Component Analytics - Okay so component might sound like a weird word but that is what we call the pieces of your online training. So for example, a video would be one component. It is important to keep track from a high level at what people are doing and how much of it they are doing. You can quickly learn how many components are too many for your employees and adjust.

  5. Video/Audio Files - It is important to understand and use your video/audio analytics to adjust the length and content of your videos. If you see that people are watching your videos multiple times consider revising the content and trying to make it easier to understand. If you are seeing people are not completing the video/audio consider revising the length of the video.

6.  Exports - Your safety training tool needs to be able to export data. If you are not able to export your analytics you should just walk away from that tool right now. OSHA is going to be calling at some point and you need to be able to pull data per person and per topic.
