Today I want to talk to you about how to keep your company in good graces when it comes to compliance.


As a Human Resources professional you may be dreading the infamous internal audit and checklist review. Instead of spending time focusing on employee engagement, HR professionals in 2015 are more focused on trying to reducing risk. Let’s focus on employee engagement this year by avoiding these 7 areas of oversight and in turn you will reduce risk ( it is a win win ).


1. Too Much Information To Process At Once. 

Instead of delivering all updated policies in one place try delivering information to employees in small packages so they are not overwhelmed.


2. Not Enough Time To Fully Read And Comprehend Updated Policies.

Make sure to give each employee ample time to consume the documentation. Sometimes a video or audio can speed up this process.


3. No Opportunity To Seek Clarification On New Policies.

Sometimes employees never have the opportunity to seek out clarification on new policies. Your employees may still have questions about the policy you just sent out. Make sure to include a survey so your employees know where to ask their questions.


4. Absence Of Verification That Policies Have Been Read And Understood.

Are you looking for verification that the policy has been read and understood by your employees? All HR professionals are. A simple do you agree or disagree question can be the simple step that you take so you are never backed into the audit corner.


5. Not Having The Most Current Information Available To Access.

Information is constantly changing and your employees need to be in the know. Keep your information and policies up to date so no one is ever out of the loop in your office.


6. Inability To Access Policies From Mobile Devices.

Did you know that 52% of workers use more than 3 devices for work. This can frustrate your employees when they are trying to view your new documents on their mobile devices. Make sure to distribute your new policies in a way that no matter what device your employees are accessing the information, they will be able to view it.


7. Not Being Able To Access Policies From Remote Locations.

On top of being mobile ready, your workers need access outside the office. And locking down access to just the office is no longer an option. Make sure your documents are accessible and secure so your employees can view them no matter where they are working.
