Safety During The Rainy Season Is Simple With These 7 Tips

Written by Karen Gerberry, Ving Success Manager | 1/2/19 1:47 PM

Your employees might not be singing in the rain but you will be when you realize exactly what Ving is and what we have to offer. Today we are going to cover 7 tips that will improve safety during the rainy season and/or put more time back into your schedule — we all could use another hour in the day.

Safety Tips To Share With Your Employees

1 . Share Cold Weather Microburst Training.

Ving is a platform that allows you to easily share short bursts of training to your employee whenever you would like and to whatever device  you would like. Pretty cool right?! So, before the cold weather rolls in be sure to get Ving and share cold weather microburst training with all of your employees. Your employees will thank you for keeping them safe — and for keeping it short.

2 . Remind Employees To Dress For The Weather.

When it comes to anything weather related it is important to dress appropriately. If your employees are working in the rain without a dress or the wrong shoes they could be in real danger. Simply send a reminder to your employees in the morning before their shift with some suggestions about what to wear that day.

3 . Prepare For The Full Day Of Work.

Taking 10 minutes to think about your entire day can help you better prepare for everything ahead of you. Encourage your employees to do the same. Give your workers 10 minutes at the beginning of each shift to think about all of the jobs they have been assigned for the day. While they are looking at their day remind them to think about the equipment they will need to stay safe and productive.

Safety Tips For You

4 . Implement Microburst Learning

Don't have any microburst training? Or still on the fence? We specialize in microburst training because we want your employees to like their safety training, stay safe, and go home to their friends and family every single day. Inviting your employees into the office to do an hour long training will bore them. However, if they learn one thing every single day they will retain the information much longer keeping them safer in the long run.

5 . Reward Good Behavior

It is important to reward your employees. It is equally important to not reward production. Often when production rewards are put in place safety takes a back seat. This is the last thing we want to see happen in your workplace. So instead of production rewards, reward completing safety training. We believe you will see an increase in production if everyone is staying happy and safe.

6 . Follow Up. Follow Up. Follow Up

Don't forget to follow up with your employees. If you share tips about staying safe in the rain and then never follow up on it why will your employees listen or think that you care? Think about the power of quick text or pop in to check on everyone. Show up with some rain gear and coffee. You will be surprised what a small act of kindness will do. It will also hold everyone accountable which is the ultimate goal.

7 . Keep Equipment Stocked & New

This doesn't just go for the rainy season, a great winter safety tip is to change out tires on all work vehicles (source). It is up to you to make sure that your employees have all the equipment they need to be safe no mater the season. And, when it comes to their own cars — we want employees to be safe driving to and from work — make sure to share friendly reminders about the importance of car maintenance and new tires in the winter.
