Often I have no idea what is going on in the entertainment industry but, in minutes I can find out.

Constantly I find myself Googling to keep up with conversation — since this is an all too common occurrence at work, at home, with family, and even friends. Sometimes it is about something that was “before my time” often it is about something pop culture that I am just completely out of the loop on. Google is part of my new communication strategies for entertainment communication.

Believe it or not at dinner the other night I overheard a story about a singer who was murdered outside his hotel room. In that sentence alone I bet that hundreds of you already know the story that was being told — I was clueless so I went to Google. From there I learned all about John Lennon's family, his life, his career, his death, and the man who committed the crime.

Today I took a dive into some of the most famous Beatles tracks to see exactly what they can teach us about our effective communication strategies.

Yesterday

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away / Now it looks as though they’re here to stay / Oh, I believe in yesterday

If you are looking for better communication strategies to keep your troubles away you will be looking for awhile. This famous Beatle song reminds us to believe in yesterday. Troubles come and go but if you deal with them head on you will always feel like it was yesterday, when all your troubles seemed so far away.

Nowhere Man

“Doesn’t have a point of view / Knows not where he’s going to / Isn’t he a bit like you and me?”

It is important to remember to always imagine a different point of view; this is an excellent part to include in your communication strategies. Before you send a message, video, or evaluation don’t be a nowhere man. Know where you are going. Know your point of view and imagine what it would be like to be on the other end of your message.

Across the Universe

Words are flowing out / Like endless rain into a paper cup / They slither while they pass / They slip away across the universe

Is your paper cup overflowing? When you send any sort of communication to employees, clients, prospects, or co-workers make sure that you are direct. If your words are flowing out over your cup… odds are they will not be read. They will slither away across the universe and never be seen. Your time is precious so make sure you’re direct in your communication.

Hey Jude

“And any time you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain / Don't carry the world upon your shoulders / For well, you know that it's a fool who plays it cool / By making his world a little colder”

‘Hey Jude’ is the last Beatles inspired tip to include in your effective communication strategies. It is important to not hold the world on your shoulders. Make sure to delegate tasks. If you are trying to do it all, your effective communication strategies will hinder. Any time you feel like doing all the communicating in your office, refrain.
