I am guilty of this myself. I annually always vow that “this is the year”. This year I made a different resolution. I made the choice to change my eating habits -- to make a lifestyle change. This year I am eating healthy.

Little did I know that this would affect more than my weight. Adopting healthy eating habits can do wonders on your work life, your personal stress, relationships and your likeliness to get ill.

So, how does this help your office?

Living a healthier life will create a more productive group of employees. If your employees are living better than they will be working better, too. Living a healthy lifestyle is a big goal, and it is important to start small. It is important to make this transition easy, and fun!

How to get started?

These tips may be useful both at work and at home. According to The Center for Disease and Control, "more than one-third of U.S. adults are obese." That number is alarming. Here are 5 quick tips to help you get started.

  1. Take a 10 minute walk on break to help you refocus for the rest of the day.
  2. Drink 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated.
  3. Roll your wrists 6 -8 times a day to prevent carpal tunnel.
  4. Keep your feet flat on the floor.
  5. Choose a chair with an adjustable backrest.

These 5 tips are just the beginning. There are many activities you can do to promote wellness in your office. Encourage your office by replacing the candy bowl with fruit. Another great way to promote wellness is to start a weight loss challenge. You can do this by mimicking the ever popular T.V. show The Biggest Loser.
