A picture can be edited to look however you want! Once you take or upload a photograph into Instagram you will be prompted to select a filter of your choice. Try them out! You can always go back to the first filter which is “none.”

  1. Your Location

You may have noticed that when you put a link in the caption section of your post, it isn’t social media communications planclickable.   1. Hashtags

The goal of a hashtag is to aggregate all posts related and including the one hashtag. Often people get confused about hashtags. Some worry that they are just not doing it right. When it comes to using hashtags there is no real wrong way — there are just less effective ways.

For example, our popular blog hashtag is #vingblog. This allows our readers to find all other blogs written by our team! If searching for a hashtag on Instagram, you will find everything on Instagram with that same hashtag. You can expand this by going to Google and searching for the hashtag.

Sometimes hashtags are used to make a joke or a comment about the post that your caption doesn’t include. For example, can you think of a marketing or grammar faux pas? They happen. It is best to poke fun at them and move on. This is a great place for a hashtag like #grammarcounts.

  1. Connect w/ Followers

It is important to connect with your popular followers on your already existing social media pages. Make a list of 50 or so of your top followers. Then log into your Instagram account. Once you are logged into your account you can use Instagram’s search feature to find all of your followers and… follow them.

Another great way to gain followers to your new Instagram page is by posting to your other social media site; directing them (with a link) to your Instagram page! Encourage all your followers to follow you on Instagram at least 3 times once your page is set up. Once you have set up your 3 posts to encourage your current followers to check out your new social media page you will want to go to the discover page on Instagram to locate new followers.

  1. Interact on Instagram

Like every social media site, it is crucial to be authentic and active on your social media sites. You should be interacting with the people who follow you and the people who haven’t followed you yet. Make sure to set aside 15 minutes every other day to poke around and search your Instagram page.
