Looking inside the mind of a typical 25-year-old can be complex. Most of us are out there trying to be so different than the rest — but really that is what makes us the same. These 2 communication skills in the workplace will help you reach your millennial audience.
I like to think of myself as us as an atypical user. But then again don't we all. The we are millennials. According to UpWork, “Millennials will be the largest generation in the workforce in 2015.” The hard part — more than half of us are not expecting to stay with a company for more than 3 years. It is up to you to connect with your millennials to extend their lifespan at your company. Here are 2 communication skills in the workplace that you can implement today.
-
CREATIVE
Millennials want an outlet to show their creativity. More often than not the millennials in your office are looking to do more than just their job. They want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Allow them to be creative and find a way to connect your company to something… out of this world.
You should encourage the millennials in your office to start a giving back campaign. These types of campaigns not only fulfill a creative need but also the want to be apart of something bigger.
Use a tool like Ving to pair their creative juices with a communication tool. Ving will allow your team to upload an images, infographics, video, surveys — all in one place. Your millennials will love this new communication tool.

ME ME ME
Time once wrote that millennials are the “ME ME ME GENERATION.” In that same breath they also wrote that the millennial generation may be “the new greatest generation.” As being part of this generation I can absolutely see that. Some of my fellow colleagues are some of the brightest people I have ever met, however we always have ourselves in mind. I personally don’t think this is a bad trait to have. There is a balance though between trying to be a part of something bigger than ourselves — while always keeping ourselves in mind.
When thinking of communication skills in the workplace keep this in mind. Your millennials need a little bit of “me me me” in your communications. Whether it is a “you’re doing a great job” OR “we couldn’t do it without you” your millennials want to — and need to — hear it more to do better.
With these two communication skills in the workplace your millennial employees will start out performing themselves. Sometimes they may seem a little unorthodox but that may just be creativity.
Ving is a great communication tool that will allow all of your employees to stay connected — in their own way, on their own time. Sign up for Ving today!

"Ving Understands What Safety Managers Need to Improve Training"
One of the biggest problems I've had with safety training platforms is making the training easily accessible on mobile job sites, making it easy to upload in-house training, and technical issues with outdated software. All of those problems have been solved by Ving. It's well-thought-out and easy-to-use.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I love the QR code option. For example, you can print a QR code sticker that explains how to inspect fire extinguishers and post it next to the extinguisher so anyone doing monthly inspections isn't guessing based on training that was six months ago. They can review the training immediately.
